April is the most beautiful time of year to visit Rome.
The whole month is rich of events and the climate is perfect for walking around among the beauties and wonders of the eternal city. Of course, lots of people will be around, but with a good timetable and an early wake up call, you will be able to visit museums, archaeological sites and monuments with no stress!
Beyond this, the eternal city will host countless events
First of all, next April 7 will run the XXV Rome Marathon . The start is at 8.30 am in Via dei Fori Imperiali between Largo Corrado Ricci and Via di San Pietro in Carcere. The race course of the marathon maintains the fascination that characterizes the 42 km of Rome
The finish is in Via dei Fori Imperiali too, passing by the Arch of Constantine and turning around the Colosseum
On April 13th there will be the second edition of the E-Prix in Rome, inside the Eur district. The route centres around the obelisk dedicated to Guglielmo Marconi and passes by the Palazzo della Civiltà e del Lavoro , known as the ‘Square Colosseum“. Then, the circuit passes close to the innovative Convention Center – La Nuvola, by Massimiliano Fuksas
The E-Prix in Rome will start at 7:00 am on 13 April with the opening of the gates to all participants. There are many activities on the track, with the official test and qualifying sessions of the Formula E. The E-Prix in Rome will start at 16:00 instead
On April 14th begins the Holy week with Palm Sunday Mass at St. Peter’s Square at 09.30 am. (tickets are required).
April 21st will be a special date.The liturgical events of Easter will mix with the anniversary of the 2772 years of the Foundation of Rome. The Rome Foundation dates back to April 21st 753 AD and the “Gruppo Storico Romano” will celebrate this special birthday with a series of events from Thursday 18 April 2019 to Monday 22 April and the traditional parade at the Circus Maximus and in the Mercati di Traiano museum.
The Holy Week that begins April the 14th will continue with the Via Crucis at 9.15 pm from Colosseum on Good Friday (no tickets are required) the celebration of Easter mass and the Urbi et Orbi blessing on April 21st
Thursday 25 April is celebrate the Liberation Day of the fascism in Italy and Wednesday 1 May is celebrated the Labor Day. A perfect opportunity for an extra bank holiday !!!!!
